CFTA ListServ Policy

The CFTA ListServ is an email discussion list provided by CFTA for its members and constituents. While free and open discourse is encouraged, certain policies and rules are required to ensure that our online community remains fair, ethical, friendly, and legal.  The CFTA ListServ serves to foster networking, communication, and education in industries supporting the use and advancement of FM technologies. Subscription to the ListServ is entirely voluntary and both CFTA members and non-members are encouraged to subscribe.

  • Do not use the ListServ to market services unless authorized by the CFTA Executive Director
  • Do respond to specific questions about your solution asked by fellow subscribers with a “service, not sales” supportive response
  • Business Partners may broadcast news periodically on the ListServ based on their membership level.  See the CFTA Membership Benefits web page for details.
  • News broadcasted on the CFTA ListServ must follow this syntax in the email subject line: [BP NEWS] <announcement including BP name>, e.g. “[BP News] Autodesk Introduces New FM License Model”

Best Practices (Netiquette)

  • Identify yourself by name and company on every post
  • If starting a new topic, make sure you update the Subject line

Misuse of the ListServ

CFTA does not actively police the ListServ.  We ask that you report any perceived violations of the above rules to us by emailing [email protected]. Doing so will enable us to act quickly.  Violations of these polices will be addressed on a case-by-case basis and may result in warnings or expulsion from the list.

CFTA reserves the right to remove all or any posted materials from the archives at any time.  If a violation occurs, CFTA respects the democratic process for handling such instances:

  • First Violation:  Written warning
  • Second Violation:  Written warning, plus subscriber will be placed on review for 90 days, meaning posts are subject to review before posting
